About the project
Mira is a true legacy with it’s initial conception occurring in the 1990’s. For the last 15 years, Mira has been up and running with loyal users, however it’s outdated 90’s form meant it needed a full refresh to continue pushing clients from the next generation of business titans to success and beyond.

Challenges
Core Challenges & Context
Mira had been operating for 15 years with a loyal, long-standing user base, requiring careful preservation of core functionality while modernising the experience for emerging business leaders
The goal was to future-proof the product with a sustainable design that balanced the needs of both existing and new users
Due to the sensitivity of long-time users, updates were delivered iteratively and in modular phases, despite the need for a complete architectural overhaul to achieve a seamless UX
Originally launched in the 1990s, before UX/UI was a formal discipline, the product lacked a cohesive interface, leading to the creation of a fully bespoke design system from the ground up
All work was delivered within tight constraints: 3 working days per week across two quarters

Approach
Began with a full system audit and client walkthrough to define scope and quickly identify what to retain vs remove
Collaborated closely with the original creators, a founding developer and her son, leveraging two generations of deep product knowledge
Worked as an embedded teammate, maintaining close communication throughout due to the project’s scale and complexity
Followed an iterative, section-by-section approach to maximise efficiency and precision:
Prioritised complex areas first, leaving simpler sections to reduce feedback cycles
Ran detailed client sessions to unpack user flows, recording sessions to capture hidden features and edge cases
Explored the live system via remote console, mapping user journeys in FigJam/paper
Translated insights into Figma, designing flows while building and evolving the design system in parallel
Reviewed and iterated with the client, then integrated finalised flows into the new architecture
Key Takeaways
Since the launch of the redesign, Mira has gained 25 new client companies, 250+ new users to date along with expansion of Mira into 4 new countries including Australia, UAE, Romania and Poland.
Continuously called back onto the project to add new functionality as Mira scales exponentially is a continuous honour I can be proud of.
